Morning Swimming at Waterlooville Pool

6am Mon, Weds and Fri

Those wishing to join us for an early morning training session but are not sure, Alex Campbell is going to run taster sessions on the first Monday of the month starting Monday June 5th. These are great sessions for improving your fitness & technique, when Ironman training get your swimming done early leaving plenty of time for your other disciplines. If you want to come along please let us know using the swimming@portsmouthtriathletes.co.uk email for information, numbers will be limited to 6/7 at a time so get in early and secure your place. We look forward to seeing you bright and early.

Mad Hutters Tea Party

Theme is Mad Hatter/Alice in Wonderland – fancy dress not essential but will of course add to the fun!!
If you can/wish to bring something along to pop on the party table to share with fellow athletes/friends please feel free to do so.
Should the weather not quite be up to sunny standard there will be a large covered gazebo to keep us dry!
Any chairs you have at home to bring along would be great too!

Be a Hero. Save Lives

Our wonderful club is now 472 strong! What a positive presence we hold to promote active lifestyles, community spirit and team work in our beautiful location.

I am always proud of our club as the people within it share something beyond a sometimes illogical desire to swim, bike and run. Our club is unshakably friendly and supportive whatever your level, or your goals. It was for this reason that I volunteered to be part of the committee to help continue this legacy. As events unfold I reflect back over the bigger position our club holds within the community.

Unintentionally and without motive we have become a presence to be proud of for more than just our sporting achievements. This year alone there have been multiple incidents locally that our members have jumped into without hesitation to offer skills and assistance where we can. The finer details need not be discussed but as recent examples one member selflessly assisted a stranger in trouble in the sea to safety. In another recent event, our cyclists witnessed a horse-riding accident and were able to provide critical first aid that meant that despite breaking their back the patient did not suffer any paralysis that could have so easily been a life changing injury. Only last week was a report in the local papers of a kitesurfing accident near Hayling Island. Our team of nearly 500 athletes are regularly out and about one way or another and as such the probability exists that you too might find yourself in a situation where your help is needed, it might even be one of us who needs help. It is with this in mind that I ask you all to stay aware of your surroundings wherever you are, keep and ear and an eye out. It doesn’t matter what your skills are, you might be the first or only one able to assist. Would you know what to do? Or even what NOT to do?

There are some very basic first aid skills that might just save a life. If you’re interested in topping up or learning basic first aid skills there are countless possibilities to do so with various voluntary organisations, check out the British Red Cross, St Johns Ambulance or even attending the free AED/defibrillator courses so you would know what to do in an emergency. It might be someone else’s husband, wife, daughter, son or parent that you help. As the weather brightens we will all be out there more, hopefully accident free. Here’s to a safe season ahead…..
