The Fareham triathlon is a local race for local people. Its friendly and suitable for beginners. This year it was on the 20th of May, one of the first races for most people and a stepping stone for peoples longer races. It’s part of the everyone active group that runs both junior and adult races in Farnham and Chichester.
You start at Fareham leisure centre which has good parking, and good facilities for getting ready pre and post race. It’s a 400m pool swim, this was well organised, they show you a float when you have two laps to go but you do still need to count. 19k bike on local roads (made up of two loops), I drove this the day before and felt it was quite technical, with lots of junctions, traffic lights and pot holes, However riding it on race day was not a problem, it was really well marshalled, even I couldn’t get lost. The run is 5.5k, quite undulating and takes you through the woods. All the marshals were friendly, supportive and kept you going in the right direction.
It’s a chip timed race, you get a T-shirt and medal. There was really good club support for this race and all club members made me feel welcome and supported, this really helps when you turn up to these events alone.
A great day with great people.
Thank you all
